Awkward!

Logan was right. If you Google "asian+wizard" the photo results are pretty sparse. Good thing we walked through the mall on opening night of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Asian wizards galore!

After three months of no turntable touchie feelies, Logan was invited to spin for a bit at a triple birthday party, and he was soooo excited!
This is what he looks like "excited"

Of course, we ended up getting there super early. The space and people were nice, but we've learned that people kind of roll in posses... and I have no posse. While Logan was busy, you know doing that thing above, I just sat in the corner enjoying music coming out of real life, not-attached-to-a-laptop speakers. Okay, and I was also avoiding socializing because I get really nervous around new people, even though everyone was nice. Darn Logan always ditching me for his true love! Next time I'm going to roll up with the keyman. Yeah right.

The birthday people are in this band that played at the end of the night.
Birthday boys! Leo+Mike

The party space is a restaurant+bar with a recording studio + practice space in the back. There is also outdoor seating in a cute garden. Definitely worth a trek out... if you have a posse to roll with!
Drunk walk to the main drag to hail a taxi.

Woke up super hungover and craving some American style breakfast. Baan ("House") Bar near our apartment has a sign saying they serve American breakfast all day.
Fresh coffee and juice? Yes, please!

Baan Bar feels more like a cafe with an open front facing the main street, which is obscured by Mr. MiniBus.

Despite what all the signs and menu claim, this is not exactly an American breakfast!
140THB/person: juice, coffee, sausage, ham, bacon, toast w/marmalade, eggs, potatos, BEANS, fruit plate

Logan was disappointed, even though this spread looks good. If you notice, there are beans on the plate. Beans? C'mon, I know all farang look the same over here, but this is totally a British breakfast! Also, everything was steamed or boiled. The eggs did not taste fried, nor were the potatos. That was really surprising since they fry almost everything here! The meats were also so-so with the biggest disappointment being the sausage, which was actually just a hotdog. Actually, the hotdog was better than the disgusting, tasteless, gritty thing we had in London. If the potatos had at least been fried, maybe this review would be better. I will definitely go back for the Continental breakfast, and maybe not hungover and starving. Maybe.

Oh, it was also pretty funny when a farang walked in, selected a magazine from the rack and tried to order "the usual." The waitress just looked at him like she didn't know what he was saying, and he finally said "American breakfast." No matter how much you frequent a place, there will always be someone around to remind you that you do not really belong here.

Speaking of breakfast joints, our beloved Vella is permanently closing on August 23rd! Please go support them in their final days. And by support, I mean mail us a bag of their delicious Intelligencia coffee beans, please!

Is that flabby bacon steamed, too? Gross.

That's sad news about Vella!
