Saan Chao Pho Khao Yai (Shrine of the Father Spirit of the Great Hill)

A typical Thai vacation includes lots of eating (sometimes at the beach) and a trip to the local temple for some luck. You can leave a wish or find your lucky lotto numbers. Here's an example of how to tip luck in your favor...

Step 1: Find a lucky strip of red paper to write your name and/or wish.

Step 2: Apply latex glue on the back of your lucky strip.

Step 3: Find magical spot in hilltop cave to affix your wish (extra magic points for picking the golden shiny spot... Ok, that is just my rule!).

Step 4 (not pictured): Pray to statue of choice and leave donation in lockbox in front of statue.

Step 5: Ooo and awe at the bits of torn wishes littering cave walls.


For a straight up "give me my magic numbers" approach...

Step 1 (not pictured): Go to the cave room with the magic numbered stick cups and shake vigorously.


Step 2: When your stick falls out, go to the magic number board to receive your fortune.
Step 3 (not pictured): Buy lotto tickets with your new magic number. This will be easy as there are lotto hawkers around the corner from the mystical cave.


Rick Steves would be all over this if he traveled Asia! Wait a minute, maybe Logan is becoming our very own backpacking, money belt wearing version...

T-minus two days, and I am on holiday! My little boogers had their Christmas assembly today, and Logan attended. It was a hot mess (as in: someone please turn the air con on or get us a fan because we're sweating our insides out!), but they did great. Although they are my greatest source of anxiety and most likely responsible for this persistent cough I've had for the past two months, I am proud to be their mind melter. Here's to two more terms of wearing me down and keepin' it cute!
